This time is fine as it is »

During my latest trip back to Ohio I had been shooting in less affluent neighborhoods and among industrial buildings and companies years abandoned, leaving my hometown a poverty belt, and in strong decline. Movie theaters that had become muffler shops, TV repair outlets and then a church. The surprise was beautiful color palettes from new applications by new owners or decay from weather and neglect or no new suitors. From an ongoing project on Ohio.

“The beauty and mystery of this world only emerges through affection, attention, interest and compassion . . . open your eyes wide and actually see this world by attending to its colors, details and irony.”

― Orhan Pamuk, My Name is Red
